Russian 2014 grain export potential rises to 23 mln tonnes

MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax) -Russia's grain export potential in calendar year 2014 will rise to 23 million tonnes, up from 19 million tonnes in 2013, the government said in a press release in conjunction with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Kursk region.

Russia will carry over 56 million tonnes of grain stocks into 2015, the press release says.

Russia exported 9.038 million tonnes of grain in the first half of 2014, 240% more than in the same period last year, Rosstat reported previously. The total included wheat and meslin (a wheat-rye blend) 5.743 million tonnes (370% more), 751,000 tonnes of barley (100% more) and 2.371 million tonnes of corn (160% more).

Rice exports declined 12.5% to 56,900 tonnes.
