Three militants killed in Khasavyurt - source

MAKHACHKALA. Aug 22 (Interfax) - The police have completed the active stage of their operation in Khasavyurt. Reportedly, three militants are dead, a source in the Dagestani law enforcement authorities told Interfax.

"Resistance has been suppressed; three suspects who offered armed resistance have been killed. The operation's active phase is over," he said.

Interfax has yet to obtain an official confirmation to this report.

It was reported earlier that two militants were shot and killed in an attempt to break free from a blocked house.

A source in the law enforcement authorities said the militants trapped inside the house were suspected of attacking Federal Security Service officers in Khasavyurt, Dagestan, on Wednesday evening.
