Militia claim to cease fire on Luhansk aid route
MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax) - Militias in eastern Ukraine will cease fire on parts of the road where the Russian humanitarian convoy is going, the government of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic told Interfax on Friday.
"This is being done in the interests of Luhansk residents so they can receive humanitarian aid," the source said.
Earlier, the head of the South-Eastern Front information center, Kostiantyn Knyryk, told Interfax that a lull had set in on the convoy route.
He has no information about any ceasefire agreements.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said earlier on Friday that the Russian aid was starting to move towards Luhansk.
