Poroshenko calls on Rada to urgently amend election legislation

KYIV. Aug 22 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has called on parliamentarians to amend the law on elections so that they are held according to an open-list proportional representation system and ratify the association agreement with the European Union in September, presidential press secretary Svyatoslav Tseholko said.

"Poroshenko has urged the deputies to make amendments to the law on elections so that they be held on an open-list proportional representation system," Tseholko said on Twitter.

The president also called on the parliament "not to disrupt the budget process and ratify the association agreement in September," he said.
