Ukraine halts military product exports to Russia - Security Service
KYIV. Aug 24 (Interfax) - Ukraine has stopped exporting military-purpose products to Russia, said Ukraine's Security Service chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko.
Reports claiming that supplies of military-purpose products continue are untrue, he said in an interview with Channel 5 on Sunday.
Nalyvaichenko also said that President Petro Poroshenko had set up a commission for military-technical cooperation, whose job is to oversee Ukrainian defense industry companies and to prevent exports of military and dual-purpose products to Russia, including by private firms.
"The president has made the fundamental decision to exercise total control over state companies and private firms, such as Motor Sich, which, we must acknowledge, have had contracts with enterprises in Russia for many years, " Nalyvaichenko said.
He said severing private companies' contracts was not an easy thing to do. But the Ukrainian authorities insist on this, he said, adding that the special commission has tightened oversight measures to rule out exports of Ukrainian military and dual-purpose products to Russia.
Ukraine does not supply Voyevoda missiles to Russia and does not provide technical maintenance for them, either, Nalyvaichenko said. "All of these contracts have been cancelled," he said.
"Besides Voyevoda missiles, there are many other projects with Ukrainian companies' original know-how, including with the participation of Dnipropetrovsk-based companies. These state secrets are being guarded. Russian specialists have no codes, for instance," Nalyvaichenko said.
