Lukashenko, Nazarbayev discuss upcoming CU-EU-Ukraine meeting
MINSK. Aug 25 (Interfax) - The presidents of Belarus and Kazakhstan, Alexander Lukashenko and Nursultan Nazarbayev, respectively, have spoken by telephone to discuss the forthcoming Customs Union-European Union-Ukraine meeting in Minsk.
"The heads of state have discussed the organization and conduct of the meeting of the presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine with participation of EU representatives, which will be held in Minsk on August 26," Lukashenko's press office told Interfax on Monday.
Earlier Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko expressed hope that the dialogue in Minsk on August 26, involving the leaders of the Customs Union members, Ukraine and EU representatives will be intense and focus primarily on peace.
For its part, the European Commission is expecting that the Minsk meeting will focus on priorities including the implementation of the EU-Ukraine association agreement, the possibility to continue the trilateral gas talks starting from September, and security in general.
