Ukraine army retreating back to Mariupol - militia
MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Militia forces killed or injured more than 80 servicemen of the Ukrainian army and took another 40 captive as a result of overnight fighting in Ukraine's southeastern regions, the "Novorossiya army's" press center has reported.
"Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian army has lost up to five tanks, up to three armored combat vehicles, ten weapons and mortars, as well as 14 vehicles and an ammunition depot," the press center said.
More than 80 soldiers of Ukrainian government forces were killed or injured, it said.
Ukrainian soldiers continued to retreat back to Mariupol in the Donetsk region, the press center said.
"Militiamen have pushed the adversary from the villages of Hranitne, Solntseve, Telmanove and Uspenka," the press center said.
Four Ukrainian servicemen were killed and another six were injured in an armed clash between militia forces and Ukraine's National Guard near the village of Pobeda, located 55 kilometers southeast of Donetsk.
"Units of a mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces sustained heavy losses as a result of fierce fighting near Kuteinykove: four self-propelled artillery vehicles with their crews, two D-30 weapons with their crews and one armored tow car were destroyed," the press center said.
