Poroshenko hopes talks in Minsk to result in peace in Ukraine

MINSK. Aug 26 (Interfax) - It is hoped that the talks in Minsk between the Customs Union, the European Union and Ukraine will result in peace in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

"I hope that peace in Ukraine will be the result of the meeting," Poroshenko said in Minsk on Tuesday during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.

"If today we and our colleagues manage to reach an agreement, which will bring peace, this will be a milestone event, and for our bilateral relations as well," Poroshenko said.
