Belarus can host next rounds of Ukraine talks - Lukashenko
MINSK. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said that Minsk is ready to host the next rounds of talks over the crisis in Ukraine.
"Belarus is ready to host a subsequent rounds of talks, if need be," Lukashenko said in Minsk on Tuesday while opening the Customs Union-European Union-Ukraine summit.
"The nations of the world are waiting for at least some positive signals from Minsk," he said.
The very fact that the sides sat down at the negotiating table "is already worth a lot," he said.
"I am deeply convinced that resolution of economic differences will also help settle the situation in Ukraine," Lukashenko said. "I consider it necessary to work most constructively towards this goal," he said.
"I hope this meeting will give an impetus to an effective dialogue in searching for compromises, devising further steps to normalize the situation in our Ukraine and to cooperation on the pan-European scale," the Belarusian president added.
