Accusations of Russia violating INF Treaty designed to portray Russia as adversary - envoy
BRUSSELS. Aug 28 (Interfax) - Attempts to drag NATO into public discussions on problems concerning the 1987 U.S.-Soviet Treaty on the Elimination of Their Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles (INF Treaty) appear to be artificial, Russia's Permanent Representative to NATO Alexander Grushko has said.
"What is noteworthy is that this information concerning the INF Treaty topic was released shortly before the summit. It is evidently playing into the hands of those who would like to portray Russia as an adversary. I would like to remind everyone that the INF Treaty is of a bilateral nature, and its sides hold all mechanisms needed to engage in dialogue and settle all issues that may emerge," he told Interfax in Brussels ahead of a NATO summit, due to be held in Wales on September 4-5.
