Moscow says chance has emerged to lift Iran intl sanctions

MOSCOW. Aug 28 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that a chance for Tehran to exercise its rights to enrich uranium and see the sanctions lifted soon has appeared at talks addressing the Iranian nuclear problem.

"Despite the difficulties of this negotiating process, an opportunity is emerging for Iran, as a signatory to the NPT (Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons), to fully exercise its integral rights, including the right to enrich uranium and see the sanctions regime lifted," the Russian ministry said in a commentary.

The agreements concerning Iran's nuclear program that were secured in Geneva on November 24, 2013 open up an opportunity to find a lasting and reliable solution to this problem in November this year, it said.

Hopefully, "all participants in these negotiations will show their political will to reach final and mutually acceptable agreements that will help fully restore the international community's trust toward the exclusively peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program," the ministry said.

"This could also have a favorable effect on the situation in the Middle East in general and could contribute to efforts to create there an area free from weapons of mass destruction," it said.
