Ukrainian army shells Luhansk again - militia
LUHANSK. Aug 29 (Interfax) - At least one died in Luhansk in the Ukrainian army's heavy rocket fire, the militia staff said.
"Luhansk came under attack of Uragan and Grad rocket launchers. It is difficult to obtain coherent information about the dead and the wounded because communication lines are broken up in the city. So far, we have been informed about only one person dead," the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) militia staff told Interfax on Friday.
The staff said the militia had taken under control three populated localities - Slovyanoserbsk, Krymske and Kyrovsk. "Nineteen servicemen of the enemy were killed in fighting and armored vehicles were seized," a staff spokesman said.
"Twenty-four soldiers of the 93rd brigade encircled by the militia have laid down arms and surrendered in the vicinity of Novoannivka in the Krasnodon district," he said.
The fighting continues near Luhansk, Ilovaisk and Lutuhyno, Ukraine's Information Resistance Group leader Dmytro Tymchuk said earlier in the day.
Ukrainian army positions near the urban-type settlement Chervona Polyana and roadblocks near Heorhiivka and Luhanska were shelled by mortars twice. Mortar bombardments of roadblocks near Lutuhyno and Herasymovka went on, and Ukrainian army positions were attacked near Malomykolaivka.
"An ATO convoy came under gunfire near the Luhansk airport. Tentative reports said some servicemen had been wounded and four vehicles had been disabled," Tymchuk said.
