Ukrainians divided over Poroshenko's Donbas policy - poll
KYIV. Sept 4 (Interfax) - Thirty-eight per cent of Ukrainians believe that President Petro Poroshenko is pursuing a strong policy for resolving the crisis in the east of the country; 43% hold the opposite point of view, according to the findings of a poll conducted by GfK Ukraine, which were unveiled by its Director Gleb Vyshlinsky at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.
According to the poll's findings, thirteen per cent said the head of state's policy to settle the situation in Donbas is strong; 25%, rather strong; and 23% described Poroshenko's actions as rather weak, 18% as weak and 21% could not answer.
The current political situation in Ukraine was rated as stable by less than 1%; rather stable by 2%; 7% said it is equally stable and unstable; 18% rather unstable, and 70% said that it is unstable.
Fifty-six percent of the respondents rated Ukraine's current economic situation as very bad, 32% as bad, 10% as mediocre, 1% as good, and less than 1% said it is very good.
The poll was conducted on August 14 - 25, 2014 among 2,000 people aged above 18 by personal interviewing at home. The poll covered all Kyiv-controlled regions across Ukraine, as well as the city of Makiyivka in the Donetsk region. The margin of error: 2.2%.
