Georgia to send infantry to NATO, partners' training in Ukraine
TBILISI. Sept 4 (Interfax) - Georgia will take part in the annual international Rapid Trident training exercise that will take place near Lviv, Ukraine, on September 13-27, the Georgian Defense Ministry has reported.
The training will involve the NATO countries and the countries participating in the Partnership for Peace (PPF) format.
The Defense Ministry said the Georgian a company of the first infantry brigade will participate in the training exercise.
"Along with the Georgian troops, training will involve some 1,000 troops from 15 countries, including 200 U.S. troops and troops from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, the UK, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, and Spain," the ministry said.
According to the ministry, the training exercise is aimed at practicing joint actions by the multi-national brigade against illegal armed groups.
