Military action continues in eastern Ukraine - DPR militia

DONETSK. Sept 5 (Interfax) - The headquarters of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic reported on Friday that fighting continued on all tracks in eastern Ukraine in the past 24 hours.

Specifically, the Donetsk Kyivsky district came under mortar fire, as a result of which dozens of residential building were damaged and civilians were hurt.

According to the headquarters, fighting continues in the area of the airport, from where the Ukrainian military attacked the militia.

"Our positions came under fire several times in the past night. Active fighting is now going on in the area of Mariupol and the militia are encircling the enemy's group in the Debaltsevo area," the militia headquarters said.

"According to operative information, a Ukrainian military column is now moving from the populated area of Staroignatyevka in the direction of the Donetsk People's Republic's troop positions. According to eyewitnesses, it is composed of over 20 armored vehicles, including tanks," the headquarters reported.
