Not everyone in Europe likes Switzerland's neutrality - Swiss ambassador to Russia

MOSCOW. Sept 10 (Interfax) - The neutrality of Switzerland is being seriously criticized by its European partners, Swiss Ambassador to Russia Pierre Helg said at the opening ceremony of the Days of Basel event in Moscow on Wednesday.

The ambassador said the status of Switzerland's neutrality has not changed in the past 100 years. The status of Switzerland's neutrality is determined in its legal system and that means that Switzerland cannot use its territory to conduct military action, the ambassador said. He also said that Switzerland has no right to export weapons or support any of the conflicting parties.

The policy of neutrality is used in all political situations, Helg said.

The Days of Basel in Moscow began on September and will last until September 12. A Swiss medical forum will be held at the event. Additionally, an exhibit called Nakhodka, which is devoted to the life of Russian composer Yevgeny Gunst, will open in the Glinka All-Russian Musical Culture Museum on Wednesday.
