Militia register five ceasefire violations in 24 hours
DONETSK/LUHANSK. Sept 10 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army violated the ceasefire conditions approved in Minsk on September 5 five times in the past 24 hours, the headquarters of the Novorossiya Front told Interfax on Wednesday.
"Provocations and ungrounded accusations against the armies of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics of violations of the agreements reached in the Minsk negotiations continued last night," the headquarters said.
According to information received from areas of direct contact between the militia and the Ukrainian troops, five ceasefire violations have been registered.
On Tuesday, a checkpoint of the Southeast Army located in the area of Vesyola Gora came under fire from the populated area of Shchastya. Later, there was an artillery attack on the residential quarters and social infrastructure of the city of Khartsyzsk from Verkhnya Krynka.
In the evening of September 9, the Ukrainian military opened fire with mortars on a school in the populated area of Zugres and residential quarters of Makiyivka and Nizhnya Krynka. "Information on casualties among civilians and destruction is being determined," the headquarters said.
According to the militia's reconnaissance, "the enemy continued the re-deployment of troops" on the Donetsk track, "taking favorable areas and lines and conducting active reconnaissance."
In the meantime, the militia have assumed control over the populated areas of Dokuchayevsk, Razdolnoye, and Solntsevo, which had been left by the Ukrainian troops.
The situation on the Luhansk track did not change considerably. "According to reports from residents of the village of Nizhne, members of the punitive battalion Aidar, which is stationed there, are drinking, robbing people, and abusing locals," the Novorossiya headquarters said.
According to the headquarters, the Ukrainian military units located in the neighboring populated area of Toshkovka tried to curb the illegal activities by members of the Aidar battalion, which led to a clash involving small arms.
"The situation on the Mariupol track has not changed considerably," the headquarters said, adding that the Ukrainian military has focused on strengthening their positions in the suburbs and conducting reconnaissance activities near the militia's positions.
In the meantime, the headquarters of the militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic said a convoy of Ukrainian armored vehicles had been destroyed near the city of Krasny Luch.
"Our troops destroyed the enemy's convoy coming from Slovyansk. There is information that the militia's artillery destroyed some 90% of the armored vehicles. The exact figure is being determined," the headquarters said.
The headquarters currently does not have information on casualties.
