Ukraine determined to reach new level of interaction with NATO - presidential official
KYIV. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has ordered improving interaction with NATO, based on outcomes of the alliance's summit in Wales on September 4-5, Ukrainian deputy presidential chief of staff Valery Chaly said.
"We are oriented toward implementing all political decisions adopted at the summit," Chaly said. "It is obvious to us that this is a result that would help us deepen our relations with NATO in the near future," Chaly told journalists on Wednesday.
In particular, Ukraine plans to update a coordination system as much as possible, he said.
"Having this degree of trust between the leaders of the NATO countries and the president of Ukraine, it is necessary to depart from Soviet approaches toward interaction with representatives of the NATO countries who are already in Ukraine, including advisors and so on," Chaly said.
The personnel of the commission on partnership between Ukraine and NATO needs to be reshuffled to make its work as efficient as possible, Chaly said. "Such instructions have already been issued," he said.
The work of all Ukraine-NATO joint working group will be stepped up as well, he said.
"I think we have great potential," Chaly said.
