Russian defense industry should be ready to produce critically important equipment, materials - Putin

MOSCOW. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Russia will not artificially sever cooperation with its foreign partners in the defense sector, but should be ready to produce critically important equipment independently, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"We have no intention of artificially severing cooperation with our foreign partners, but we need to take the existing risks into account," Putin said at a Wednesday meeting on the work on the draft version of the state armaments program for the 2016-2025 period.

"Our industry should be ready to produce critically important equipment, parts and materials and have the corresponding industrial capacities, technologies, and developments," Putin said.
