Envoy Churkin surprised MH17 crash report does not mention UNSC resolution
MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax) - Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin is surprised the preliminary findings of experts probing the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 do not mention UN Security Council resolution 2166.
"The first thing that strikes me as odd is the report preamble, which says on which grounds the inquiry has been held. It mentions the ICAO regulations and the agreement between the Netherlands and Ukraine under which the Netherlands committed to hold a leading role in this investigation. But for some reason it does not say a word about UN Security Council resolution 2166 regarding this inquiry," he said in a program aired by the Rossiya 24 channel.
The diplomat recalled that the resolution declared the need for a full, thorough and independent international investigation and for a ceasefire on the crash site.
"For some reason this reference is missing," he pointed out.
