Ukraine reports attacks on Ukrainian positions in south-eastern regions
KYIV. Sept 11 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army positions and checkpoints in the south-eastern regions of the country came under fire some twenty times in the past 24 hours despite the ceasefire put in place on September 5, Andriy Lysenko, an official with the National Security and Defense Council, said.
Among the Ukrainian positions that came under fire are those in the populated areas of Kirovskoye, Avdiyivka, Mayorskoye, Starolaspa, Maloorlovka, Kamyshevakha, Popasna, Krasnogorovka, Petrovskoye, and Karpovka, Lysenko told a briefing on Thursday.
"The positions in the area of Donetsk airport also came under fire," Lysenko said.
Additionally, attacks on the populated areas of Debaltsevo, Donetsk region, and Peski, Luhansk region, were registered.
"A total of 129 attacks on Ukrainian military positions have been registered since the beginning of the ceasefire at 6:00 p.m. on September 5. There have been no casualties among the troops in the past 24 hours," Lysenko said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian troops are isolating the crisis area and checking documents on the key routes, he said.
The headquarters of the Donbas militia, for their part, said equipment and mobilized troops from the Western regions of Ukraine are being redeployed to south-eastern Ukraine during the ceasefire.
"According to intelligence information, Kyiv is using the ceasefire regime to restore the combat potential of its groups on all routes that are at risk in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics by redeploying equipment and personnel rotation, which involves personnel replacement with units formed during the recent mobilization, primarily from the western regions of Ukraine, the information center of the headquarters of the Novorossiya army told Interfax.
The headquarters said that "the ceasefire regime is generally observed across the entire front."
"At the same time, some Ukrainian units on the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics are ignoring the orders issued by the Kyiv administration and continue their attempts to provoke the militia and locals who support them," the headquarters said.
