Moscow expects Kyiv, militia to strictly abide by Minsk accords
MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax) - Moscow expects both Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and the militia to honor the ceasefire agreements reached in Minsk, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said.
"We do expect Mr. Poroshenko and his team, as well as the militia, to strictly adhere to the agreements reached," Lukashevich said at a news conference on Thursday.
At the same time, he acknowledged that the compromise reached between the warring parties in Ukraine is very fragile.
"Increasingly more indications have appeared that the Ukrainian authorities are still consolidating military forces in different regions of the country, and there is evidence from witnesses confirming this," he said.
Russia "has been assured each time that there are no plans to resume combat operations and there will be no violation of the truce," Lukashevich said.
"But, as they say, let's wait and see. And practice will show who is right in this situation," he said.
