Marketing of Proton rockets in U.S. will be continued by ILS - general director of Khrunichev Center

MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The marketing of Russian launch vehicles Proton on the markets of the U.S., Europe and the countries of Latin America will be continued by the company International Launch Services (ILS), Andrei Kalinovsky, new general director of the Khrunichev Center , told reporters.

"We own a joint-stock company ILS, we have a controlling voting package of shares. The American partners also play a very important role in the company: they get licenses to launch commercial satellites using Protons from the U.S. State Department. These licenses are obligatory: China, for example, is fully excluded from the process with their launch vehicle. There would be a lot fewer contracts for commercial communication satellite launched using Protons if it wasn't for the role of the American partners in ILS," Kalinovsky said.
