Siemens seeks expanded partnership with Transneft
ST. PETERSBURG. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Siemens hopes to agree increased deliveries of equipment to modernize pump stations at Russian oil pipeline operator Transneft , Siemens Russia CEO Dietrich Moeller said in St. Petersburg at a meeting with representatives of the Strategic Partnership North-West non-commercial partnership.
Siemens is negotiating with Transneft on participation in the pump station modernization program and hopes to reach agreement on the issue in the next few months, Moeller said.
Siemens, which has worked with Transneft for a long time, supplies drive equipment for Transneft pump stations, including those on the ESPO pipeline system. It is also working to automate pump station control systems, he said.
The two companies are currently negotiating an expansion of their strategic partnership, which Siemens hopes will lead to increased production at its facilities near St. Petersburg, Siemens Elektroprivod.
Investment to expand capacity at Siemens Elektroprivod might total 40 million-50 million euro, Moeller said.
Transneft presidential advisor Igor Dyomin confirmed that the pipeline operator is in talks with Siemens. "We believe cooperation with them is possible," Dyomin said.
