Kazakhstan ups agricultural output 2.5% in 8M

ALMATY. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan raised agricultural output 2.5% year-on-year in January-August to 960.5 billion tenge, the State Statistics Agency said.

Meat and dairy output rose 3.3% to 742.3 billion tenge and crop production inched up 0.1% to 216.2 billion tenge (182 tenge/$1 on Sept.12).

The number of cattle in the republic grew by 2.4% year-on-year to 6.664 million. The number of goats decreased by 2.5% to 2.840 million and pigs by 13.2% to 1.053 million and poultry by 0.6% to 36.498 million, while the number of horses grew by 6.5% to 2.018 million and sheep by 1.7% to 18.392 million.
