NSDC: Ukrainian army loses five men killed in ongoing truce, total fatalities stand at 873
KYIV. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Five Ukrainian servicemen were killed in the week since the signing of the Minsk protocol.
Total fatalities of the army operation launched in the middle of April stand at 873, Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Friday.
"The Ukrainian army lost 5 men killed in the week which had passed since the signing of the ceasefire protocol in Minsk. Three border guards, one army serviceman and one National Guard serviceman are dead. Another three Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen who sustained severe injuries before the truce died in hospital," Lysenko said.
"In all, 873 Ukrainian servicemen have died and 3,275 have been wounded since the beginning of the ATO operation," the NSDC spokesman said.
He noted there had been no Ukrainian army casualties on Thursday.
A civilian vehicle was blown up by a mine at a roadblock near Stanitsa Luhanska on Thursday morning. The driver died and a border guard was injured, Lysenko added.
