Red Cross says it didn't escort 2nd Russian humanitarian convoy for Ukraine
MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - No members of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) escorted a Russian humanitarian convoy that arrived in Ukraine's Luhansk on Saturday, as they had not received Moscow's and Kyiv's common decision on the matter, Victoria Zotikova, a spokesperson for the ICRC's regional delegation for Russia, Belarus, and Moldova, told Interfax.
"We are not taking part in this," Zotikova said.
Asked why the ICRC had not joined the convoy's escort team, Zotikova said, "We were prepared to do so but had not received a coordinated decision regarding this convoy from the two parties."
