CIS foreign ministers to discuss border security, fight against illegal immigration in Minsk

MINSK. Sept 18 (Interfax) - Foreign ministers from CIS member countries will meet in the Belarusian capital Minsk on October 19 to discuss cooperation in humanitarian affairs and security.

"The next session of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council is expected to address 13 topics and 24 draft documents regulating interstate cooperation in humanitarian affairs, security and other issues," a CIS Executive Committee spokesman told Interfax on Wednesday.

The ministers will discuss measures taken by the Border Guard Commanders Council to bolster security along the external borders of CIS member countries, the spokesman said.

Among other issues, the meeting's agenda includes a draft program for CIS states to crack down on illegal immigration in 2015-2019 and a concept for cooperation to combat human trafficking.

The ministers will also discuss an action plan for contacts in humanitarian affairs for 2015-2016, as well as a strategy for promoting cooperation in tourism for the period up to 2020.
