Militia again accuses Kyiv of breaching ceasefire
DONETSK/LUHANSK. Sept 19 (Interfax) - The militia of south-eastern Ukraine have again accused Kyiv of breaching ceasefire and killing people.
"Despite the declared ceasefire, the Ukrainian military attempted to storm the positions of the Southeast Army in the area of the populated areas of Kalinovo-Borshchevatoye, Kalinovo, and Troitskoye from 6:00 p.m. on Thursday," the information headquarters of the Novorossiya army told Interfax.
"As a result of the actions taken by the militia in response, the attacker was forced to retreat to its initial positions. Two militiamen were wounded in the fighting," the headquarters said.
According to the militia, the Ukrainian troops "continued moving equipment to the line of contact in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics and regrouping their troops to take better positions and the fortification equipment of the new positions.
"Some units continue 'bothering' fire on the militia's positions and populated areas in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics," the militia said.
"The militia's positions near the populated area of Slavanoserbsk (Luhansk People's Republic) and its residential quarters came under fire from small arms several times last night. A shop was destroyed. Two locals were killed," the headquarters said.
In addition, the militia said, citing intelligence, that "members of the punitive battalion Aidar continue abusing local residents" in the village of Nizhny, Pervomaisky district.
"Three members of the punitive battalion raped a local woman after a drunken row near the village of Krymskoye, Slavyanoserbsk district. The Ukrainian police summoned to the incident site refused to take any actions to detain the armed criminals," the headquarters said.
Interfax currently has no confirmation of this information from the Ukrainian military.
In the meantime, a local resident was killed in an artillery attack in Donetsk in the early hours of September 19, the Donetsk city council reported on Friday. Shells damaged residential buildings in the city's Kyubyshevsky and Petrovsky districts and distribution gas pipelines and a collector.
