MP Mitrofanov says investigators aware of his whereabouts

MOSCOW. Sept 19 (Interfax) - The head of the State Duma committee for information policy, information technologies and communications, Alexei Mitrofanov, has said he is puzzled by the Russian Investigative Committee's request for the chamber to help establish his whereabouts.

"It is very strange. Investigators of the Investigative Committee have all information, including about my whereabouts," Mitrofanov told Interfax over the phone on Friday.

Russian Investigative Committee Director Alexander Bastrykin earlier asked the State Duma to help find Mitrofanov.

"We have just received such a request. It was forwarded to chairman of the faction A Just Russia Sergei Mironov," State Duma spokesman Yury Shuvalov told Interfax.

On September 23 the State Duma is expected to vote on whether or not to dismiss Mitrofanov from his current post because the parliamentarian has been absent from work for more than three months.
