Novatek asking for 100 bln rubles from NWF for Yamal LNG - ministry

SOCHI. Sept 22 (Interfax) - Novatek , Russia's leading independent gas producer, has filed an application with the Economic Development Ministry to receive 100 billion rubles from the National Welfare Fund (NWF) for the Yamal LNG project, Deputy Economic Development Minister Nikolai Podguzov told reporters on the sidelines of the Sochi investment forum.

"Novatek - for Yamal LNG," Podguzov said when asked which companies had recently applied to receive NWF money. Novatek is asking for about 100 billion rubles, he said.

He said there are two stages in the review process for applications to receive NWF resources - the strategic rationale and comprehensive rationale.

"The first stage is fairly quick. I think we'll manage in a few weeks. Then the initiator has up to six months in order to prepare the whole set of documents. If they prepare quickly, then we're prepared to considering [making a decision on allocation of funds] within a month," Podguzov said.
