Russia, Iran have many points of contact on Caspian Sea status - Russian presidential special envoy
MOSCOW. Sept 22 (Interfax) - Russia and Iran see eye to eye on the final status of the Caspian Sea, Igor Bratchikov, the Russian president's special envoy on the delimitation and demarcation of the Russian border on the CIS countries, said.
"We have so many such points of contact [on the status of the Caspian Sea] with Iran that we could say we see eye to eye on the matter," he told a briefing on Monday.
"Russia and Iran are the successors of the countries that signed the corresponding treaties in 1921 and 1940, I mean when Iran was called Persia and Russia was called the Soviet Union," he said, adding that Russia and Iran have had many points of contact since then.
