Kyiv says that Ukrainian NPPs has fuel reserve for year

KYIV. Sept 23 (Interfax) - Ukrainian nuclear power plants have been provided with fuel up until September 2015, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yury Prodan said at Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Tuesday.

"Regarding nuclear fuel supplies - the situation is now normal, we have a stockpile of nuclear fuel for our NPPs until September 2015," he said.

Energoatom is the operator for all four of Ukraine's active nuclear power plants, which acquires fresh nuclear fuel according to contracts with TVEL, the fuel company that belongs to Rosatom, and Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB.

Energoatom operates 15 nuclear power blocks, equipped with water-cooled reactors, with capacity to generate 13.835 gigawatts of electricity.
