Russia hopes U.S. will not hamper Ukraine peace process - Churkin
MOSCOW. Sept 24 (Interfax) - Washington is guided by a destructive position when it comes to the Ukrainian crisis, and Moscow hopes the United States will not hamper the incipient peace processes, said Vitaly Churkin, Russia's Ambassador to the United Nations.
"Our task is to solve the problem. I think, to a large extent people understand this. I hope that there will be this understanding, say, about the Ukrainian affairs, although of all our Western colleagues the Americans have taken the most destructive position on the subject of Ukraine," Churkin said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel.
Officials in Washington "eventually have to understand, both under our and European pressure, that things have gone too far," he said. "I hope they will not hamper the processes that have now begun," he said.
