Ukrainian PM urges comprehensive solution to Donbas conflict
KYIV. Sept 25 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said he is convinced that the conflict still simmering in the east of his country cannot be resolved by military methods alone.
"What is the format for achieving peace? The military option is not the best choice. There should be a comprehensive approach, which includes both diplomatic, financial, political and military options as a last resort," he said, addressing the UN General Assembly.
"We call on Russia to abide by its international commitments. It should implement all 12 points of the peace plan," the Ukrainian prime minister said.
"We are also asking our international partners not to lift the sanctions [against Russia] until Ukraine regains full control over the country's east and Crimea," he said.
Yatsenyuk said he was convinced that the sanctions would help launch negotiations and would act as a condition for the efficiency of such talks.
