DPR fully controls gas transport system, doesn't anticipate heating problems

MOSCOW. Sept 25 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic authorities are in full control of the gas transport system of the Donetsk region, DPR First Deputy Prime Minster Andrei Purgin told Interfax on Thursday.

"Back in the Soviet period, gas grids in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions were built as a part of the gas transport system of southern Russia. They remain absolutely autonomous and independent from Ukrainian [grids]. We fully control the gas transport system and the regional gas company," Purgin said.

"There should be no problems with the start of the heating season," he underscored.

"Our energy ministry is negotiating gas supplies at reasonable prices. The whole infrastructure is ready for winter and the heating season will start in due time. We do not anticipate any problems," Purgin said.
