Extra state support for Russian aquaculture could total 1.3 bln rubles in 2015

ST. PETERSBURG. Sept 26 (Interfax) - Additional financing for the development of aquaculture in Russia could total 1.3 billion rubles in 2015, First Deputy Agriculture Minister Igor Manylov said at a round table on the development of the fisheries sector in Leningrad Region on Thursday.

"We're providing for additional financing of the government program for development of aquaculture. This work should be completed at the level of agencies by September 30. I can say that for 2015, if everything goes according to the understandings we've managed to reach, the amount of state support will total 1.3 billion rubles," Manylov said.

This money would go into disease control measures, subsidies for interest rates on loans for businesses in the sector, financing of infrastructure construction and connection of businesses to engineering networks.

Manylov said the problems facing the development of the fisheries sector include worn out capital assets, a shortage of financial resources among businesses in the sector and technical backwardness.
