Obama statement calling Russia challenge to intl security "looks strange" - Ushakov
MOSCOW. Sept 26 (Interfax) - The Kremlin has characterized the statement made by U.S. President Barack Obama in the UN, in which he put Russia second among the challenges to international security between the Ebola virus and the terrorist group Islamic State as "strange".
"I don't recall his [Obama's] predecessors characterizing the place and role of Russia in international affairs like that. It looks very strange to me," Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov told reporters.
Ushakov agreed with the comments made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the U.S. president's statement, "mentioning so-called Russian aggression in Europe among other challenges to international security somewhere between the Ebola virus and terrorist activities, in particular, the ISIS and al Qaeda."
"As for the Obama speech, it seems to me our foreign minister has commented on it in good detail and with the necessary irony. I fully agree with this commentary," Ushakov said.
