Yatsenyuk: lack of full border control a violation of Minsk protocol
KYIV. Sept 26 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk said on Friday that a lack of complete control by Ukraine of its border with Russia means a violation on of the Minsk protocol of September 5.
"If control isn't resumed it means a violation of one of the basic principles enshrined in the protocol that was signed in Minsk," a government statement quoted Yatsenyuk as telling reporters at Boryspil airport in Kyiv. "The protocol can't be seen as points that the Russians like and points that they dislike. It isn't a menu. Everything must be complied with."
If the terms of the protocol are fully observed, "there will be a chance of us starting proper peace negotiations," the prime minister said.
"The participants in such peace negotiations must include the European Union and United States. A while ago, they signed the Budapest Memorandum, and we need practical and not paper guarantees of our territorial integrity and independence," he said.
