DPR to ask Russia to launch inquiry into mass graves
DONETSK. Sept 26 (Interfax) - The Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) is planning to invite Russian investigators to probe mass executions of civilians, the DPR first deputy prime minister Andrei Purgin told journalists on Friday.
"We will try to invite investigators from Russia so they help us investigate the murders and executions of civilians in Donbas," he said.
Earlier the Russian Foreign Minister urged the UN, the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) and the Council of Europe to voice their reaction to the discovery of a mass grave near Donetsk.
"On September 23, a burial site, presumably, of civilians, was discovered on the grounds of the Kommunar coal mine in the town of Nizhnyaya Krynka 60 kilometers from Donetsk. Several semi-decomposed bodies in plainclothes were found in the mass grave. Obviously, these people were tortured, as evidenced by their hands tied behind their backs, traces of kill shots in the head and the nine millimeter cartridges found beside the bodies," the Russian Foreign Ministry said on the website.
The discovery was also confirmed by OSCE monitors in Ukraine.
