FMS: Russia takes in approx. 1 million refugees from Ukraine

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Russia has taken in about one million refugees from south-eastern Ukraine, according to head of the Federal Migration Service's department in the Rostov region Viktor Solodovnikov.

"Approximately one million displaced persons are currently staying in Russia, and slightly more than 880,000 of them have applied for various kinds of status, including 195,000 for temporary asylum," Solodovnikov told a press briefing in Rostov-on-Don.

He emphasized that lately they had been witnessing an outflow of refugees to Ukraine.
