Caspian states' leaders agree basic cooperation principles for first time - Putin

ASTRAKHAN. Sept 29 (Interfax) - The leaders of the Caspian States have agreed upon a political statement which outlines the main principles of the five-party cooperation in the Caspian region.

"The main thing is that we have agreed on a political statement which for first time outlines the main principles of the five-party cooperation in the Caspian region," Putin said at an expanded session of the Caspian summit.

The reached agreements meet the long-term interests of all parties, said the Russian president. "We are grateful to our partners for their readiness and ability to find necessary and acceptable compromises," he said.
