Nazarbayev urges Caspian states to form free trade zone
ASTANA. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has urged the other Caspian leaders to set up a Caspian free trade zone.
"Even before the legal status of the Caspian Sea has been negotiated, a foundation could be laid for economic cooperation. I propose discussing the idea of creating a Caspian free trade zone," he told the Caspian summit in Astrakhan on Monday.
Excerpts from Nazarbayev's speech were cited in a press release, circulated by the Kazakh presidential press service .
"This issue could be discussed by our governments in a priority procedure," Nazarbayev was quoted as saying.
