Russian army to draft over 154,000 conscripts this fall - General Staff

MOSCOW. Sept 30 (Interfax-AVN) - A total of 154,100 conscripts will be drafted into the Russian Armed Forces this fall, Main Organizational Mobilization Department Head - General Staff Deputy Chief Lt. Gen. Vasily Tonkoshkurov told reporters on Tuesday.

"Consistent with the decree of the Russian president, 154,100 men will be drafted into military service and assigned to the Russian Armed Forces, other troops, military formations and bodies during the autumn draft period," Tonkoshkurov said.

A total of 458 will be drafted into alternative civilian service, he said.

According to Tonkoshkurov, 154,000 men were drafted into the army in spring 2014. "The spring 2014 conscription plan was met fully," the general emphasized.
