Sevmash to lay keel of third Borei-A sub by yearend

SEVERODVINSK. Oct 1 (Interfax-AVN) - The keel of the third nuclear-powered missile carrying submarine of upgraded project 955-A "Borei-A" will be laid at the Sevmash shipyard in the end of this year, the shipyard press service said.

"The construction of the Vladimir Monomakh [submarine] ends the Borei series. The modernized series Borei-A will come next. Sevmash is already constructing the Knyaz Vladimir and Knyaz Oleg missile carrying submarines. Another cruiser named after a prince will join them by the end of this year," says a program aired as part of the Vesti Sevmasha video project.
