UNHCR envoys praise Russian govt support for refugees from Ukraine
ROSTOV-ON-DON, Russia. Oct 1 (Interfax) - A team from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) that has visited the Rostov region this week has come to the conclusion that the Russian government provides Ukrainian refugees living there with all they need, the UNHCR representative in Russia said.
The refugees are receiving medical and even psychological assistance, and their children go to school, Bayisa Wak-Woya told reporters on Wednesday.
The Russian government's support for the refugees can set an example for other countries to follow, he said.
However, the UNHCR is always ready to help Russia deal with the Ukrainian refugee problem, he added.
He also said refugees keep arriving in Russia from Ukraine.
The UNHCR's three-member team, which arrived in Rostov region on Monday and has finished work, has visited a camp in Neklinovsky district where more than 250 refugees have been put up and a village school in the same district where Ukraine refugees' children are studying.
