Militias again attempt to storm Donetsk airport - Ukrainian govt forces press center

KYIV. Oct 2 (Interfax) - Donetsk militias again attempted to storm the Donetsk airport early on Thursday, the press center of the military operation in eastern Ukraine reported on its Facebook account.

The militia attacked the airport four times on Wednesday, shelling the Ukrainian security forces' positions with tanks, Grad multiple rocket launchers, artillery guns, and mortars, it said.

The Donetsk airport still remains under the government forces' control, it said.

Oleksandr Zakharchenko, the prime minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), had told journalists on Wednesday that the militias controlled 90% of the Donetsk airport territory and were determined to take it fully under their control by the end of the week. "Donetsk airport will be to our control in two or three days at most," Zakharchenko said.
