Transdniestrian president urges partners to drop diktat tactics for sake of constructive talks
MOSCOW. Oct 2 (Interfax) - Transdniestria asks peace process partners to drop 'diktat tactics' at the negotiations, unrecognized Republic President Yevgeny Shevchuk said.
"The sooner our partners abandon the tactics of diktat, the more constructive our negotiations will be," he said, answering to an Interfax question about the resumption of 5+2 talks.
He said Transdniestria did not disrupt the 5+2 negotiations but requested a different level of consultations.
"We did not suspend the 5+2 negotiations. We only asked for a different status of consultations in order to clarify the uncertainties that have emerged in 2014," he pointed out.
The president said there had been "uncertainties" related to the prosecution of Transdniestrian officials and the opening of criminal inquiries against them.
He said additional sources of tension should not be created at a time when it was difficult to reach consensus about socioeconomic cooperation issues.
