Donor countries agree to provide funds for Ukraine's displaced persons - PM Yatsenyuk
KYIV. Oct 2 (Interfax) - Donor countries have agreed to help finance Ukraine's social programs to support displaced persons, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
"We have started to register displaced persons in order to know who lives where and in what conditions. We have adopted a decision to extend state assistance to these persons for a six-month period. These people have neither places to live nor jobs. They have lost everything. What model is the cabinet suggesting? It is monthly assistance of 884 hryvni for each person who is unable to work, and 442 hryvni for each person able to work," Yatsenyuk said.
"As far as the amount of funding is concerned, our spending keeps growing, but our revenue is declining. As soon as we finalize the registration procedure for displaced persons and determine all payments, we will receive donor assistance. Such an agreement with our Western partners already exists. Foreign donors will give us the chance to compensate for such payments to displaced persons in the state budget after we register them and start payments," he said.
