Over 3 million tourists visited Crimea this year

SIMFEROPOL. Oct 2 (Interfax) - The number of tourists who have visited Crimea since the beginning of the year has exceeded 3 million people, Crimean resorts Minister Yelena Yurchenko said on Thursday.

"The 3,000,001st tourist arrived at the Simferopol airport this morning," Yurchenko said at a meeting of the Crimean State Council commission on resorts and tourism.

According to earlier reports, the Crimean authorities plan to prepare and adopt a state tourism and resorts development program, whose main purpose is to turn Crimea into an international year-round, popular, and competitive tourist center in the nearest future by December.
